Spice Garden Eating House is the fruitful result of passionate, food-lovers who wanted to bring the magic of Sri Lankan cooking to our colourful Darwin.
By combining delicious Sri Lankan cooking with a warm and friendly yet modern environment, we hope to enrich the lives of our patrons with new flavours, colours and most importantly – spices!
Living where we do, the gateway to the rest of the world, we have so much culture at our fingertips. We want to bring more of that into Australia and enable friends, families, locals and travellers to delight in our traditional Asian cooking with a uniquely modern twist.
THE ISLAND OF SPICE
Sri Lanka is a small tear drop shaped island located off the southern tip of India. Its rich culture spans back 4,000 years. It is a place known for its warm hospitality and of course – spices!
Sri Lankan food is full of flavour – cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, chillies, ginger, nutmeg, turmeric, coriander, lemongrass, cumin and coconut just to name a few!
Despite being thousands of years old, Sri Lankan cooking is wonderfully ahead of its time – healthy, fresh ingredients are a staple in Sri Lankan food. Ingredients like coconut oil, and antioxidant-rich spices are part of every meal. You’ll find many dishes are gluten free, dairy free and vegan or vegetarian meaning there’s something for everyone and nothing is short of flavour!
